Set in hand specialise in 3rd party distribution, warehousing and hand finishing of greetings cards for the gifts industry. They have an office team of 11 out of a total staff number of 83, operating from multiple warehouses.
Having used a combination of manual tracking and legacy software, their issue was accurate stock checks and location information across 50,000 sq ft of warehouse space and over 1000 pallet locations, which was affecting productivity and client management. Their entire organisation was run using manual and hugely labour-intensive paper-based processes.
They were in urgent need of a software solution that would digitise their processes, step by step for barcoded and non-barcoded stock, stage by stage. Ultimately, the investment needs to extend digitising every aspect of their process and be as automated as possible – even down to electronic stock checks.
Cyber developed a bespoke web application that can import delivery notes, validate stock received and accurately identify and log its storage location within the warehouse. This was built using a custom QR code allocation and scanning process to speed up stock location and retrieval.
Accurate reporting on stock levels increased confidence in the Set in Hand service, with greater efficiencies in processing pick lists including information they did not have before. A pick list that used to take 2 to 3 hours can now be completed in 30 minutes or under. This has increased productivity nearly 6 fold.
